The Mysterious Morning Adventure

Last Saturday we slept in, but the old alarm didn’t go off. I wanted to lie down again, but my cousin told me to speak up in the group chat to confirm the plan. On the road, a parade held us up, and a traffic officer signaled us to pull over; ten minutes later the engine rattled and we had to pull over again.

At the festival, skaters began to show off their tricks while families came to hang out and eat out. A local band turned up out of nowhere, and more friends turned up just in time to join in a quick game. My backpack started to fall apart, but we could get by with some tape. A sudden drizzle threatened the fun, yet we didn’t give in; after a while, the clouds passed and we moved on to the river.

Before heading home, the chef at a food truck showed off a giant burger and dared anyone to finish it; the crowd laughed, and I had to speak up to order for the group. We promised not to sleep in the next day—unless another surprise concert popped up to make us stay longer.
